IFG Macclesfield
The International Football Group's Macclesfield FC programme is one of the UK's most ambitious and forward-thinking full-time international football academies, operating in formal partnership with Macclesfield FC and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Players train and compete daily in a professional environment, with direct access to UEFA-licensed coaches, world-class facilities, and a structured pathway that runs from a short summer residency through a full gap year to a UCLan undergraduate degree. Open to players aged 18 and above, the programme offers a unique opportunity to train, play, and live like a professional footballer while securing qualifications that will last a lifetime.
Coaching, Development & Pathways
The full-time programme runs September to May, delivering eight to ten hours of structured training per week by UEFA Pro and A Licence-qualified coaches. Based at Macclesfield FC's Leasing.com Stadium and its 4G first-team pitch, players benefit from daily training sessions, position-specific masterclasses, dedicated goalkeeper training, strength and conditioning, live-streamed matches, and detailed video analysis. All fixtures are competitive, and the highest-performing players earn the opportunity to train and compete with the Macclesfield FC first team. To date, over 70 IFG players have trained with the first team, and half of those have made at least one competitive appearance.

The day-to-day programme is delivered by a UEFA Pro and A Licence-qualified coaching team across position-specific, tactical and strength & conditioning sessions at the Leasing.com Stadium. Our coaches bring a wealth of real-world experience in competitive professional football environments, enabling them to guide players effectively and nurture both technical proficiency and tactical understanding. Every session has clear purpose — preparing players to perform consistently at the highest level.

A typical week in the IFG Macclesfield programme combines structured team training, position-specific masterclasses, strength & conditioning, matchdays, and recovery — giving players the full professional experience.

All training is delivered at the Leasing.com Stadium and University Sports Arena. Transport to and from all sessions is provided.
