About the school

Lucton School

Founded by Act of Parliament in 1708, Lucton School is one of England’s oldest independent schools — a warm, tight-knit community set on 55 acres of Herefordshire countryside. It has recently made one of the most significant moves in independent school football by formalising a direct, structured partnership with Wolverhampton Wanderers, bringing Premier League coaching standards onto its Herefordshire campus and creating an elite football pathway that is genuinely rare for a school of this character and size.

The school caters for pupils from nursery through to sixth form (ages 6 months to 18), with its football academy open to players in Years 3 to 13. Boarding is available from age 7 in three formats — full, weekly and flexi — with a genuine family-feel ethos, live-in house parents and a weekend activity programme that includes trips, go-karting and adventure sports.

Coaching & Development

The Lucton International Football Academy, launched in September 2025, delivers five structured sessions per week built around professional Wolves coaching support. Monday and Tuesday sessions are run by Wolves coaching staff at the 4G facility near Ludlow. Wednesdays are competitive match days at Sixfields Stadium, Worcester. Thursday is a performance review and individual development day. Every Friday, the full squad travels to train at Wolverhampton Wanderers’ own indoor dome — a full-size 3G pitch used by Wolves’ professional training programme.

The programme is directed by Asa Hall, a former professional midfielder with 600+ senior career appearances (Birmingham City, Shrewsbury Town, Luton Town, Oxford United, Cheltenham Town), and supported by dedicated sport science from Vai Ramesh, whose Loughborough University and Masters-level S&C credentials are unusual at a school of this size. GPS tracking, video analysis, and tailored development plans are central to the programme.
