Whitgift School

Whitgift School
Whitgift School is widely regarded as one of the most successful school football programmes in the UK and the leading programme in London. Set within a 45-acre estate in South Croydon, it runs an operation of remarkable scale: 26 teams from U11 to U18, more than 500 boys representing the school each year, and a trophy cabinet that includes 14 national titles across Independent Schools and English Schools competitions in the past eight years alone. The coaching team is built from former professionals and UEFA-qualified staff, with genuine working relationships in place with Chelsea, Fulham and Crystal Palace. The results speak for themselves. Twenty-four Old Whitgiftians have gone on to play professional football, including Jamal Musiala, now at Bayern Munich and representing Germany at senior level, and Callum Hudson-Odoi, now at Nottingham Forest. Boarding is available in Founder's House for those who need it.

Coaching & Development
Football has been a core sport at Whitgift for almost thirty years. The school fields 26 teams from U11 to U18, from the 1st XI right down to the fifth and sixth teams, so there is a level for every player and a clear progression path for the most talented. The fixture list is deliberately demanding, running from local schools through to national and academy-standard opposition. Coaching is delivered by a team of former professionals and UEFA-qualified staff led by Director of Football Andrew Martin. The school's established relationships with Chelsea, Fulham and Crystal Palace provide structured exposure to professional football environments for its best players. Tours and overseas training camps round out the programme. The results have followed: 14 national titles across the ISA and ESFA competitions in the last eight years, and 24 Old Whitgiftians who have gone on to play professional football at the highest level.
